Our hearts are heavy as in recent weeks, Grant Hall passed away.  Grant spent endless hours volunteering within our cross country ski community to ensure high calibre racing events were offered in Thunder Bay.  His dedication and commitment inspired all of us.  Thank you Grant.

Welcome Volunteers!

Volunteer Coordinator, Mary Ellen Ripley can be reached at [email protected] or talk|text 807.252.9580.

Thank you for volunteering with the Lakehead Superior Nordic Association. Your efforts ensure that we host the best possible event for Ontario athletes. We will be strictly following TBDHU guidelines and expect all volunteers to follow them, as well as set an example to others on site.

Proof of Vaccination (POV)

  • Volunteers, officials, athletes, coaches and support teams are required to be fully vaccinated, as defined by the government at the time of the event.
  • When a volunteer arrives on site for the first time, proof of vaccination will be verified, and a wristband issued.
  • The wristband allows volunteers on site over all days of the event.
  • Each day, every volunteer must report on the main floor of the chalet to confirm access, and to complete the TBDHU COVID screening.
  • Please do not come if you have any symptoms or feel unwell. We will have stand-by volunteers to replace you.

  • Indoors: Double layer face coverings (not buffs) must be worn in all indoor spaces, at all times.
  • Outdoors: All people on-site are expected to wear a mask  (not buffs) at all times unless actively skiing or consistently maintaining a distance of greater than 2 m distance from others. We will have surgical masks available for those who need them.

Chalet Access

  • Access to chalet will be based on capacity limits.
  • Access will be limited to volunteers, for scheduled bib pick up, to visit the race office, and for emergency services.
  • Lappe Ski Center members with lockers will be permitted to enter the chalet.
  • If you wish to speak to the Race Secretary or any other event official, please text 807.474.6126, and Stephanie will come downstairs to meet you in a pre-determined outdoor location.

On-Site Food Service

  • We cannot serve food indoors with the new COVID restrictions.
  • Willow Springs will have complimentary food for volunteers at the kiosk window (hearty soup, bread and treat | coffee, tea, hot chocolate) that can be consumed outdoors, or in your car. You will be given a food ticket each day.
  • There will be no regular on-site food service available during the event.
