Your Board is calling a Special General Meeting for August 31st at 7pm on Zoom. We’re writing today because the topic matters: your Board, together with the Boards of Big Thunder Nordic and Kamview Jackrabbits, have been exploring what it might look like to bring our three clubs together as one new, unified Thunder Bay nordic ski club.

At this meeting, members will be asked to consider their support for moving forward with a joint investigation and planning process on what a new single Thunder Bay nordic ski club would look like— looking at new club structure, programs, staffing, finances/legal matters, and more. A final decision on whether to merge will come later, at a second Special General Meeting expected in winter 2026–2027, once that work is done.

Why we’re exploring this

Our members already train together, race together, and are friends outside the club. Our clubs already share community, volunteers, and facilities in many ways — all while running three separate boards, insurance policies, registrations, and administrative processes. We believe there is merit in exploring how one strong club can offer deeper programming, stronger race team support, better access to funding, and a more sustainable path for our athletes and volunteers.

We know you’ll have questions — about fees, locations, names, volunteer roles and more. We don’t have every answer yet, and that’s what this process is for. We’re committed to keeping you informed as decisions are made.

We have created a google form to collect questions as well as suggestions, and be able to address them in a coordinated way across the clubs.  If you have any comments or questions please use this form.  We will look to address questions submitted through this form at the meeting as well as share responses broadly.
