As you’ve all heard in the news, the city is at a crisis point and more than likely heading into lockdown in the very near future. Several parents who work in health care have urged us to suspend programming ahead of the lockdown, and we know of several families who will not be bringing their children to programming tonight or Saturday due to the rapidly rising COVID cases. The safety of our club members, and acting proactively to keep the ski center open are of utmost priority.

The Board of Directors of the Ski Club have made the following decision with respect to club programming and events:

1. Suspend all Jackrabbit programming effective Friday at midnight, until further notice. Coaches will continue to provide virtual activities and encouragement to their groups.

2. Continue in person training for the Track Attack (Brook’s group) and the Competitive and Fit Team (Eric’s groups), both divided into at least 2 groups until such time as the Health Unit moves us into grey zone (at that point we will return to our virtual training).  Adult Try-It and Adult Technique programs will also continue until such time as we move in to grey zone.

3. The Boxing Day Classic has been moved to a fully virtual race format (like the lockdown loppet) to be completed this Sunday between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. No bibs, no volunteers and minimal trail signs. If you do not wish to participate and desire a refund (minus $5 admin fee), please let us know by midnight on Friday. If you would like to register and hadn’t already, there are a few spots and you can do so here until noon on Feb 26th (please note the zone4 registration info has not been changed to reflect new virtual event but that is what you would be signing up for). If you have already informed us that you cannot attend, you do not need to do so again. Additional details will be emailed to registered participants.

4. Suspend the Families on Skis Event until further notice.

We know this is a difficult time for families, but we are grateful that the ski conditions are so perfect. Please feel free to contact myself or Rena if you have any questions or concerns.
