Lappe Nordic Ski Club’s COVID-19 Update (May 31 2020) Program Manager2020-05-31T20:54:44-04:00
As you are likely aware, the province of Ontario is in phase 1 of its re-opening plan. Cross Country Ski Ontario (XCSO) as our Provincial Sport Organization has, per the phase 1 guidelines, produced an “Ontario Safe Return to Play Protocol – Stage 1
”. After studying the protocol and participating in conversations with other Ontario ski clubs, Lappe Nordic Ski Club is excited to offer a staged return to group training for our FITness and COMPetitive Teams.
These teams will continue to meet Mondays and Tuesdays for virtual meetings and team strength with Head Coach Eric. In addition we have now been able to add in-person training sessions at Lappe Ski Center two Saturday’s per month starting with June 9. We have unfortunately cancelled the full day training camp scheduled for June 20, since hosting it under the current guidelines is not feasible.
We are extremely pleased to be able to offer these in-person training sessions but they are only possible if all who choose to attend follow the clear guidelines including maintaining groups of no larger than 4 athletes and 1 coach AND a physical distance of at least 2m at all times. Participating athletes will have a virtual information session on June 2nd at 5pm and then must sign off on XCSO’s Safe Return to Play Protocol.
We do not take this “return to play” lightly and recognize that some families may wish to continue to isolate from others. We understand and will ensure that those athletes receive the support that they need, even if they do not attend the sessions.
All the best, stay healthy, stay active and get outside
