Well, this is another COVID update, however, we have some exciting things to share with you! READ ON…

 

With the further extension of the COVID lockdown and ‘Stay Home’ order until Feb 11th the Lappe Nordic Ski Club wants to share with you what we CAN continue to do during this time, and what is again rescheduled.  Some items below are new since the lockdown’s original extension update on Jan 8th so please read with interest.

 

Let’s all start by doing a happy dance that we can still go out skiing!!!  

 

In addition to enjoying the wonderful local ski trails, here is what is additionally available to you as a Lappe Nordic Ski Club member, relative to your interest and program;

 

Individual/Personal Challenges:

  • #funweCANdowithLappe 

  • Ski Bingo – Print off the Lappe Jackrabbit Bingo Card and see how many you can complete!
      • Once you have done as many as you can, take a picture of you and your BINGO card and post on social media with #funweCANdowithlappe to be entered in a draw for prizes. (or email to [email protected])

    • Costume Parade

      • Go for a ski in any fun costume you like. The wilder the better! Family participation encouraged!

      • Share a picture of you out enjoying your ski in your amazing costume and post it on social media with #funweCANdowithlappe to be entered in a draw for prizes. (or email to [email protected])

    • All emailed or social media posted pictures of challenge accomplishments will be put in a draw for some Lappe prizes!  So get out there, ski and HAVE FUN!

 

   10 km, 20 km or 50 km.

Just the challenge you were looking for!

  • All distances are laps of the 10 km red course at Lappe Ski Center.

  • All participants of Lappe Lockdown Loppet will receive a recognition award. Draw prizes available for all registrants.

  • Registration is $15 for participants born in 2007 and later, and $25 for everyone else, on zone4.ca, and will close at 9pm on Feb 14th. You must register before completing the event and uploading your time.

  • You can upload your time on zone4 for glory! (optional). Prizes for fastest male and female on each distance, based on the zone4 uploaded time including .gpx file.

 

  • XCSO COVID Challenges:

    •  KM Board – Keep skiing and recording every kilometer as we are fighting to try to take the lead for all of Ontario. Every km counts!
    • Strava challenges

Direct support for Program Participants:

  • Jackrabbit and Track Attack programs:

    • Weekly email from coach with suggestions for technique, Km / trail challenge, and potentially some video resources.

    • Potentially up to 8 more sessions, starting Feb 13th, once lockdown lifted, and pending ski conditions. This would bring the season to an end on April 3rd

 

  • COMP / FIT Teams:

    • Time Trial “Race Simulations”

    • Tuesday Team Meetings (8PM on Google Meets)

    • Thursday virtual training session (5:30PM on Google Meets)

    • Weekly training plans

    • Individual goals meetings with Eric

 

  • Adult Try It Program: Postponed

    • Session #1, 4th lesson on Feb 13th

    • Session #2, Feb 20th – Mar 13th

 

  • Kids Try It Program:  Postponed

    • Session #1, 3rd, and 4th lessons on Feb 13th and 20th

 

  • Adult Rec. Technique:

    • Potentially up to 8 more sessions, starting Feb 13th, once lockdown lifted, pending ski conditions. This would bring the season to an end on April 3rd

    • Emailed technique suggestions

    • Possibility of video technique analysis.

 

  • Seasonal Ski Equipment Rentals : Last Pick-up / exchange times

    • Saturday Feb 13th and 20th.  11-11:30 and 1-1:30

    • In Club Trailer (far end of parking lot, closest to stadium).

 

Please also note that the following events have been postponed:

  • Women on Skis: Feb 21th

  • Boxing Day Race:  February 28

  • Families on Skis: March 7

  • Lappe Invitational: March 14

  • Still TBD: March Break Camps, SkiLay, Run and Ski
